"Laundry" Art

Here is the first of two projects for my laundry room. Yes, it has taken me forever to finish but I promise it doesn't really take THAT long! I had some minor bumps on the road.

This project is what I call "Laundry" art. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought paper mache letters that spelled out the word laundry. Below is a picture of a paper mache letter. They are regularly priced around $2.47 each, but I got them on sale!

Here are the items you will need:
1. Paper Mache Letters (any word you want)
2. Rust-Oleum Spray Paint. (I used Rust-Oleum Hammered in Silver)
3. Scotch Mounting Squares
4. Something to spray paint on

Start in a well ventilated area. Lay your paper mache letters out and spray paint each side. Let dry.

You might have to do several coats depending on the color your chose or if you didn't get all the sides completly covered (you don't have to do the back since you won't see that).

Once all sides are completely coated and dry use the Stotch mounting squares and adhere to the back of each letter. I used at least 2 squares per letter.

Remove the green backing and adhere to your wall. I used a level to make my letters straight, but you could position the letters in many different ways. Here is my final product!

Laundry Room Update

Well it has been a few days since I have posted about my laundry room. I am almost completely done painting. What color did I choose?

We ran into a few issues before I could start painting. We had a leak coming through the ceiling from the bathroom. My husband tore a hole in the ceiling and discovered that it was coming from the tub. Nothing too major just some leakage from the shower head that was running off the tub onto the floor.

So after figuring that out I was then able to paint! I am almost completely done just need to do one more coat and I will have pictures to post.

I have also been working on two projects. The first is the ladders that I purchased to make drying racks.

They are now primed and have their first coat of spray paint. I was going to use a color from my rug to paint the ladders but then found a really cool product from Rustoleum called Universal Hammered Spray Paint in silver (they have several different options). I thought it would give the ladders a really cool look and I planned to use the paint in another project.

The second project is some artwork for the walls. I saw a really cool picture on Pinterest of letters that spelled "wash." I decided to make my own out of paper mache letters that you can purchase from a craft store (I got mine from Hobby Lobby). I also used the Rustoleum spray paint to tie the two projects together. They are almost complete and I will have a step by step instruction post on how to make your own in the next few days.

Is anyone making progress on their laundry room?! Leave your comments or questions below, email me or post a comment on my Facebook page.
